SPECIAL EVENTS

Synod – The highest court of the Church which meets biennially (every two years) for worship and business. Held in March or April.

 

Convocation – Held in the year when there is no Synod. Normally in March. This is a day of celebration through worship services and cultural expression.

 

Day of Fellowship – Held on Ash Wednesday in the Area Councils. A gathering of members in each region for     worship, reflection and study.

 

United Church Young People’s Fellowship Month – April. A month of activities for young people, including church     services, outreach, a day of prayer and fasting.

Youth Quake, a cultural extravaganza, is held on the fourth Saturday of April.

 

Children’s Rallies – Held in Councils during March or April. A day of worship and competitions for members of church (Sunday) schools

 

Men’s Fellowship Month – October.

Annual General Meeting – first Saturday of October.

 

Women’s Fellowship Sunday – Fourth Sunday in January.

Annual Conference – Heroes week-end.

Young Adults Week – Third week in September. A week of celebration, including church services, prayer, fasting and a fun day.

Fellowship Day – 3rd Saturday in February. A day of    worship, study and discussions.

 

Girls’ Brigade Month – March.

Rally – fourth Saturday of March.

 

Boys’ Brigade Month – October.

 

Church School Month – November.

Annual Conference – first week-end of November.

 

Summer Camps – July and August.

For children, teens, youth and young adults.

 

Camp Reunion – Second Saturday in November.

 

Sports Day   Second Saturday in February

 

Reformation Sunday   Final Sunday in October. A universal Church celebration of the Reformation Movement.

 

Union Sunday - First Sunday in December. A celebration of the Act of Union that led to the formation of the United Church .
